Waarta Sustainable Communities Network (Waarta) is a registered Somali non-governmental,
non-political, and non-profit organization working to strengthen community resilience
through livelihoods, education, protection, WASH, climate action, and peacebuilding.

Mission:

To promote peace, mentorship, gender equality, and sustainable community development through
awareness, training, and action-oriented programs.

Vision:

A peaceful, healthy, and empowered society where every individual thrives.



Featured Activities


Vocational Skills Training – Kismayo Center


Waarta trained over 300 youth and women in practical skills including bakery, tie & dye, salon, and shampoo production. Many graduates have since started small businesses, creating local income opportunities.


Peace Dialogue Forums – Kismayo and Surrounding Districts


Waarta established six peace dialogue groups uniting elders, youth, and women to resolve community-level conflicts. These ongoing forums have improved trust and strengthened local reconciliation.


Hygiene Promotion Campaigns – WASH Program


Waarta reached around 300 households with hygiene awareness sessions focused on handwashing, safe water use, and sanitation practices, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases.
